Chougule had argued that there was a security risk if he was produced before an Udupi court since it was the jurisdiction of the alleged crime. In an order passed on August 30, a bench of Justice Mohammad Nawaz rejected this contention, saying Chougule is now lodged in a Bengaluru central prison and “therefore, the apprehension of threat raised by the petitioner is misconceived”.
